Below are frequently asked questions and answers. If you’d like to know more about my style and approach to shooting weddings, there’s a link to download a guide at the bottom. Hopefully, you’ll have a clear idea of what to expect and how we’ll get incredible photos to document your day.

What can we expect to pay for wedding photography coverage?

Prices start at £350 for short wedding coverage and elopements, and range between £1000 and £1800 for full day coverage. I do offer reduced custom quotes for last minute bookings and weddings that take place through the week. For a tailored quote, please contact me and tell me as much detail as possible about your plans.

How many hours are included for a short wedding or elopement?

1 1/2 hours approximately. This allows time for portraits and to document the moments before your ceremony, the ceremony and photo session afterwards.

How many hours are included in full day coverage?

Usually a full wedding day is about 10 hours, from when you want me start until the party really gets going on the dance floor. If you’re planning fireworks or a sparkler send off, I’ll be there and will join in the dancing until then! Start and finish times are tailored to you.

Do you photograph elopements?

Yes! I love the romance and free-spirited nature of elopements. It’s an honour to document something so intimate.

Do you photograph destination weddings?

Travelling is one of my favourite things to do and I couldn’t be happier if the reason for my travel is to photograph a wedding! Travel costs do apply, which I try to keep to a minimum and book as early as possible.

When and how should we book you?

As soon you have set a date get in touch! I normally take bookings a year in advance. I also get plenty of enquiries within a few months, so don’t be shy with a last min enquiry. If I’m free, I’ll be there!

Firstly, I always like to meet my clients for a chat to discuss their requirements and learn about their day. This can either be a meeting in person or a Skype / FaceTime call.  This is a good way for me to get to know you and you to know me as well. The next step is a 50% deposit and a signed contract to hold your date in my diary.

The rest is due one month before your wedding. I will be in touch then to remind you and to catch up with all the final parts of your planning.

Do you take formal family portraits?

Yes, I do. These are a firm family favourite as I’m sure some will have travelled a long way to be with you on your wedding day. These photos will be cherished and the most likely ones to be printed and framed. Even still, I know they aren’t the highlight of your day, so ask for help from a relative or one of your wedding party to make this part of the day efficient and enjoyable. Please be aware that long lists of group photos will take away from my time documenting the real moments of your wedding.

Do we have to feed you during the wedding?

Yes, please! I like to eat when you eat (no-one wants photos taken while their trying to enjoy their food!). I usually take a seat somewhere out of the way and use the time to recharge, review photos and get some sneak peek photos ready for you to wake up to. I will always be on standby for speeches, or any entertainment happening between courses. I’m a vegetarian.

How and when do we receive our photos?

You will receive a sneak peek of three to five photos the following morning. When I have all your photos ready, you’ll receive 100-800 (depending on the duration of coverage) edited, high resolution images online which are then available for download and printing. I love printed photos too much not make sure you have something tangible to treasure and provide a 12” x 12” photo album that tells the story of your day. (If you’d like a bigger album or more copies for parents and your bridal party, I will provide you with a full list of options after your wedding). Post production typically takes 8 weeks.

How can I use the high-resolution photographs?

Once you’ve downloaded the photographs from your private online gallery, you can order prints and canvasses, thank-you cards and send photos to your friends and family, share them on social media etc. Please tag @weddings.helenarmstrong or credit me when you share your photos. The only limitation is not to sell them for commercial gain.
